Last Night

Last night, you and I were together. Back in your "hometown": back in Venice (it feels weird calling Venice a hometown as I have so much respect for such a wonderful city). Anyways, there we were, together, it was so nice.

You and I holding hands, walking around the Piazza and even saying hello to some friends of yours. It was so nice, I felt so good, so familiar with you and everything happening around us, which is quite a thing to say, considering how little we know each other.

Venice was prettier than ever, as always, full of people coming and going, kids playing with the pigeons and couples enjoying the romantic ambiance. You and I were not paying attention to the crowds or the organized chaos of it. We were trying to get in a gondola for a ride around Venice. I was having fun at you not being able to jump in...where you scared or what? I couldn't believe it. Being there, with you, it was almost like a dream...

And a beautiful dream it was, too bad I woke up before we could get to share a kiss under one of Venice bridges...

The cure and the cause

Just like the song, there's always someone in our lives that represents our biggest flaw, someone that embodies our weaknesses. Usually, someone that we are physically and emotionally attracted to. A man, or a woman, that becomes the cure and the cause of our blues.

This someone usually is looking to have fun, no strings attached, no committments. We can all feel it from the beggining, but do we really care? No, at least not at first. We want to have fun too, but somehow, somewhere in the process, fun is not enough anymore and we start wanting more: more than they will ever give to us.

I've had my share of cures and causes, and they are not fun at all, they play you, they make you happy, then, they take it away. It's an emotional rollercoaster no one should ever subject themselves to. But the offer is always too tempting to reject and we are too weak or needy to let it go away.

To me it's a lesson learned, though some people might stil not notice it, this is what I know:You will always be left asking for more...of the cure of course, which comes, inevitably, attached to the cause itself.
